Swab tests (molecular tests) or PCR testing
Type: nasal/throat swab
Time for results: Your results are announced within 1-2 working days (assuming no delays of the test delivery) and same day consultation when results are ready.
What it tests: The test swab examines the RNA or the genetic material of the SARS-CoV-2 virus.
It is 100% accurate and will be able to confirm whether anyone with symptoms has the virus. It will also pick up whether the virus is present for people who have been exposed but are not showing any symptoms as yet. So long as there are viruses present on the swab the laboratory receives it will be reported “virus detected”.
This test only picks up the active virus. If you have recovered and the virus has been cleared from the body, or the swab is not taken carefully and thoroughly as per the instructions, there may not be any virus on the swab in which case the test will be reported as “virus not detected”.
IgG Antibodies Tests
Type: Laboratory Serological (blood) test
Time for results: 24 hours
What it tests: This test examines your blood for the presence of antibodies that your body has produced in response to being exposed to the virus. The test has been shown to be 99.9% accurate.
In summary, if you want to know:
• If your symptoms are being caused by covid-19.
• Whether you or your family have been exposed to Covid-19 and whether they need to self-isolate for the full 14 days and contact all their contacts it is the PCR test which you should have.
• if the fever and illness you had over 14 days ago was likely to be Covid-19, it is the Antibodies test you need.

IgG Antibodies & PCR Test Package
We offer an IgG antibodies test and PCR Covid-19 test package
The IgG test identifies the presence of antibodies 14 days after exposure to the Covid-19 virus.
The PCR swab test is to detect the presence of active form of SARS-Cov-2 (Covid-19).
The PCR Test:
A PCR test looks for the presence of the RNA of the virus itself. This means that it will pick up the presence of the actual virus in the nose and throat. It is 100% accurate and will be able to confirm whether anyone with symptoms has the virus. It will also pick up whether the virus is present for people who have been exposed but are not showing any symptoms as yet. So long as there are viruses present on the swab the laboratory receives it will be reported “virus detected”. This is a much more expensive test as it requires more technical expertise than the antibody tests.
The Antibody Test:
To check if you have been infected with the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus in the past.
Please note that there is still a lot to learn about this virus and having antibodies does not mean you definitely have immunity and not having antibodies does not necessarily mean you have not had covid-19 as not everyone develops antibodies. Also it is not yet clear how long immunity lasts even if there is any. So please don’t think you can shed the masks, ditch the alcogel, leave your hands unwashed, and rush out to a party just because you get a positive result!
There is still a lot of uncertainty but it is highly likely that if you do have antibodies, you have had covid-19 and that it is quite likely that you may have at least some temporary immunity. Still, it is very important that you do not take the presence of antibodies to mean that you are able to ignore government advice about social distancing, hand hygiene and isolation.
This is a test you take if you are feeling well and want to confirm whether or not you have been infected with SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus in past.
